Importing custom routes for MobileNavigator for iPhone GPS. \u00a0I love using my iPhone as my primary Moto GPS device. \u00a0Trying to figure out how to import custom routes from Google maps, Motion X, Streets and Trips, or any other mapping software is a pain in the you know what… \u00a0But luckily there are people figuring these things out for us!<\/p>\n

Bryan Dolnik shows us how to import map routes with waypoints to Garmin\u00a0MobileNavigator for iPhone. Works like a charm and makes it EASY to do custom mapping for accurate Moto Tours. Garmin MobileNavigor (Navigon) for iPhone is useful and works even in areas where there is Zero cell coverage. \u00a0You’ll need GPS (full view of sky) and an accessory adaptor to keep the battery at full charge. \u00a0I’ve written a full review of Navigon MobileNavigator<\/a>\u00a0here<\/a>. I use a multi USB adapter with voltage meter connected on my handlebar via Powerlet adapter and mount the iPhone on my RAM ball mount.<\/p>\n

I’ve modified Bryan’s method quite a bit. \u00a0See Bryan’s original article here. http:\/\/adventuregpx.com\/tutorials\/route-planning-on-the-iphone\/<\/a><\/p>\n

You can actually start with a google maps route that your plotted on your laptop. \u00a0Copy the actual URL with the google map that includes waypoints, etc. and paste that URL directly into ITN Converter. \u00a0The app will recognize a URL and ask if you want to import it. \u00a0Say yes and Voila! \u00a0Your route is already in ITN Converter ready to convert to your trusty GPS unit. \u00a0Of course at that point, you’ll modify and tweak to your liking before exporting to your particular GPS unit. \u00a0In my case I export to a .target file extension on dropbox. \u00a0This is a little confusing, but without worrying about details, this allows the iPhone to upload to the Garmin Navigon for iPhone directly as a custom route with all waypoints included! \u00a0Sweet!<\/p>\n
