I made it to Susanville. That was my goal. It was only 400 miles so easy and relaxed. I spent most of my time cold. I refused to wear the heavy thermals in a protest of the weather. Isn’t it supposed to be 75 degrees in June? It did warm after 150 miles so it wasn’t all bad. No rain, plus one! Had a wonderful time with my friend in Ashland. He is a high end home builder and just finished his new creation so took a little tour and ate at my favorite breakfast spot (Morning Glory). Chorizo Scrambled, comes with the most amazing pancake. Their coffee is one of the big draws, nice and rich.

Spent most of this day doing some new physical therapy tricks on my shoulders and arms. Seems to work. More on that as we go. My ride took be thru the town of Shasta, South and East through McCloud, Lassen and the backcountry on 89/44 and right into Susanville.

Ride report: breaking in the new Mustang touring seat. I bought it for my wife, but when going solo is a treat as well. Here is my description. The Mustang seat is still new. It kind of cups the butt instead of just being flat. It feels like getting goosed as I ride down the road! I swear, but that smile comes from my butt feeling good hour after hour. It’s a difficult thing upgrading a seat. And after getting burned many times in the past paying for things that don’t really ‘upgrade’ the experience, I did lots of research first. Talked to a bunch of people and took the plunge. It didn’t disappoint. The seat does raise me and brings me forward a bit. The price to pay for cushiness… So, I’ll keep my solo seat and use this one for ALL multi day trips.

Tried out the GoPro, but try is the operative word. As I learn how to use it (or when Linda joins me), we’ll start seeing some good pics.

Today it’s off thru Reno and most likely down to Virginia City and Carson City as I head to Hwy 50 East.

Starting out in Oregon:

Shasta and Shastina (volcano!)

The backcountry of Lassen
