My wife and I have just completed a 17 day Moto tour. Before we left, I went on a kick to get all the comfort accessories that I felt would make a difference and be easy to use. I know from my own experience that legs and feet are so important to that long duration touring comfort. I was willing to spend money on this for my passenger if I could find products that actually made a difference.

I first tried the RIVCO adjustable passenger pegs. Not good. Their adjustability was a little odd with the alternative placement setting in a 7 inch circle. Maybe ONE of the settings was comfortable so, the adjustability was really only one setting. That’s not going to increase comfort. It may allow me to swing the footboards out of the way when not in use, but that’s not an issue anyway.

My next choice was the Kuryakyn adjustable passenger pegs. These swing in an arc that is in addition to the stock pegs or footboards. So you get to keep your existing setup and the adjustable portion creates optional foot rest locations and angles for the passenger.

I installed and tested both on the bike.  It was immediately apparent that the Kuryakyn Adjustable Passenger Pegs are well thought out and designed to actually do the intended job. Gotta like that. There is a spring-loaded pin that allows you to lock the peg in one of three locations and also allows you to set the peg in a non-locking position at the front and rear for more foot placement options.

My wife really likes the stock Harley passenger footboards. They provide a certain amount of flexibility when resting the foot. She didn’t actually use the Kuryakyn adjustable pegs as much as I thought she would, but when she did, she really loved them.  It’s amazing how urgent it is to have things on your bike right when you really need or want them. The fact is, the more variety in foot placement overall, the better for comfort. Using the stock location for much of the time and then using the adjustable peg positions periodically is only a testament to the stock footboard comfort.

In the end, I was very happy that I went with stock Harley foot boards including vibration pads as well as the Kuryakyn Adjustable Passenger Pegs. The Kuryakyn pegs are conversation starters for sure, and they look fantastic. But they also serve a welcome purpose to keep my wife comfortable and happy for long distance touring.

Installation was straightforward but did take about an hour to complete. You’ll attach the mounts directly to the footboard mounts, and attach the adjustable pegs to the Kuryakyn mounts.  The included bolts have thread compound already included.  I tried various of peg/pad placements before deciding on where the soft portion of the pad lands when set to forward or rearward positions. I opted to make the soft pad portion end up on top when the peg is adjusted fully forward. This was the most common setting for my wife.

Be careful when selecting and ordering the part number. Each part number is specific particular types of passenger pegs, footboards, adjustable or non-adjustable, chrome, black, Rinehart exhaust… Just pick the right one or use the online chat with the Kuryakyn agent and you’ll be set. I chose product #4353, which is not designated for my bike. My bike is the 2013 Harley CVO Road King FLHRSE. This part number is made for bikes with footboards. I had already replaced my stock passenger pegs with stock Electro Glide passenger foot boards (non adjustable) so this part fit my current bike setup perfectly.

4 trophies for an outstanding product.  I recommend these for passenger comfort.
